St. Mary's 175th Anniversary Parish Picnic and 13th annual Chowder Chase Race are right around the corner! As the old saying goes, "many hands make for light work," and to that I would add, "and tons of fun for everyone!"
Each year St. Mary's parishioners joyfully come together for an outdoor Mass on the Saturday of the Parish Picnic (note new time: 4:30 PM) and then cut the vegetables for our Famous Kettle-cooked Chowder. We are grateful for the stewardship and fellowship.
Did you know that people are also needed early Sunday morning to pull the chicken and beef apart for the chowder and to stir it? If you are an early riser, this would be a great way to start your picnic day.
Did you know that over 600 shifts must be covered during Parish Picnic Weekend (July 20-21) in order to provide a first class 5k race, adult social, myriads of food, games, raffles, beverages, kids' activities, and our delicious home-made kettle-cooked chowder?
Did you know that we encourage you to invite family and friends to join you in enjoying our new Car Show on Friday night, July 19?
Did you know that you do not have to be a runner to participate in the Chowder Chase? You can walk a 3k course! And, volunteers are needed along the course and at registration.
Did you know that on Saturday, July 20, we are having an adult social in the Wildhorse Beer and Wine Garden, complete with adult games of chance, food from our neighboring restaurants, and live music by Twilight Entertainment?
Please prayerfully consider volunteering for a shift or two. It is tons of fun and you meet great people! Go to stmaryspicnic.com to see all of the volunteer opportunities available and a complete list of times/activities.
